Ageing congregation a concern for new bishop

9:07 am on 30 April 2012

The newly-elected Anglican Bishop of Wellington Justin Duckworth says the church's ageing congregation is a concern and one of his tasks will be to ensure its survival for future generations.

Bishop-elect Duckworth, who is 44, has dreadlocks and often goes barefoot, says he was surprised by the appointment.

''It was a big call for the diocese,'' he said.
