Hysteria expected at One Direction's NZ shows

The Auckland stadium where the British boy band One Direction performs this weekend says it is prepared for hysteria.

The group will put on three shows, two in Auckland and one in Wellington, this weekend. The tickets for their New Zealand debut sold out in 10 minutes.

The chief executive of Auckland's Trust Stadium, Brian Blake, says that in order to prepare stadium staff he sent a manager to a Melbourne concert to get some tips, which he has never done before.

He says they have been preparing for the band's arrival for a year.

One Direction was formed in 2010 after its five members had auditioned separately for the British talent show The X Factor.
