Police consult psychics over missing woman

7:54 am on 6 September 2008

Police have consulted psychics in the hope of gaining a fresh lead in their investigation into the disappearance of Wellington woman, Kaye Stewart.

Mrs Stewart disappeared in the vicinity of Rimutaka Forest Park at Wainuiomata in 2005 and is believed to have been the victim of foul play. Her body has never been found.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Levy told Nine to Noon police officers have accompanied two psychics from the TV2 show Sensing Murder to Rimutaka Forest Park and have had readings at the Lower Hutt police station.

He says while none of the information disclosed was new, he does not believe the psychics had access to it before their involvement with the police.

Detective Senior Sergeant Levy says he personally does not believe the psychics are fakes.

He says police have drawn a blank with their investigation and are interested in any bit of information that may be of assistance.

Ross Levy says he doubts any information provided by psychics would be admissible in court, however accepting information that may assist an inquiry team is a different matter.

Australian Deb Webber, one of the psychics on the television series, says a name came through during her consultation with police.
