Police have carried out a two-day operation targeting graffiti in Tauranga.

They say six teenagers, ranging in age from 13 to 18, admitted to more than 100 offences. Five were referred to Youth Aid.

Two adults face 29 charges in the Tauranga District Court.

During the operation, police recovered items that are evidence of graffiti, including correspondence, spray cans, computers, cameras and phones.

The police say graffiti is a large problem in the western Bay of Plenty and has cost victims more than $45,000.
