The Green Party has announced that it wants to increase annual leave to five weeks.
Co-leader Marama Davidson told a crowd at a E Tū election launch in Māngere today that it would provide organisations with plenty of notice and ensure the full five weeks is available for everyone by the end of 2025.
"The time is now to build on the work we've already done and make sure that everyone, no matter what job they do, has enough time off. It should not be that only the lucky few in well-paying jobs get to take proper time off," she said.
Labour leader Chris Hipkins, who was also at the event vowed to scrap training and starting-out wages for young workers, if re-elected.
Hipkins said the practice was unfair and inequitable, with more than 10,000 youth and trainee workers paid up to $363 fortnight less than other workers.
