Covid-19 update 6 August: One new case, one historical case in MIQ

There has been one new case and one historical case reported in New Zealand's managed isolation facilities today, with no new cases in the community.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health said the active cases in New Zealand was now 25.

There have been 115 historical cases since the start of the year, out of a total of 707 cases.

The total number of confirmed cases is 2524.

The Ministry also provided an update on the vaccination roll-out.

It said more than 2.1 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered, including 1.31 million first doses and nearly 800,000 second doses.

"More than 117,000 Māori have received their first vaccination. Of these, around 74,000 have also had their second vaccinations.

"Nearly 80,000 doses have been administered to Pacific peoples. Of these, around 50,000 have also received their second doses."

The Ministry's next planned update will be on Sunday.
