No timing yet on release of land decisions

Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee says a huge amount of work is being done to complete the assessment of damaged land in Christchurch, but he won't say when the decision will be released.

Thousands of houses remain in orange or white zones, meaning they are waiting for a final decision from the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority on whether the land has to be abandoned.

Mr Brownlee says timelines for Brooklands and Spencerville have been missed but he hopes the decision will be completed very soon.

He says he wants to assure people the level of work on the decisions is very intense and involves a lot of people.

Mr Brownlee says they need to show caution when making decisions about significant assets.
