Canterbury has been rattled by sharp earthquakes on Monday.
A 4.3-magnitude quake hit at 5.40pm, 10km south-west of Christchurch at a depth of 12km.
GNS Science says it was widely felt in the city and throughout the region.
Earlier, a magnitude 4 quake hit just before 2pm, 10km east of Lyttelton and also 12km deep.
