Business opportunities considered in quake zone

A group of Australian and New Zealand investors and market analysts spent Friday touring Christchurch's cordoned-off central city looking at business opportunities.

The tour was organised by Fletcher Building, which is playing a major role in the rebuilding of the city.

Its general manager of investor relations, Phillip King, took 12 Australian and 26 New Zealand fund managers and broking analysts on a tour of the area.

Mr King says the investors wanted to gain a better understanding of the situation in Christchurch, and the opportunities available during its rebuilding.

He says the investors found the experience sobering, but it also showed them that real progress is being made.
