Hundreds of people met in the Christchurch suburb of Sydenham on Tuesday to hear what the city council plans to do with their ideas for rebuilding the area.
Locals submitted their thoughts on how the quake-damaged suburb might look in the future at a community workshop six weeks ago.
Council spokesperson Jenny Ridgen says input from local people is essential to the plan's success because they will be the ones driving the growth of the suburb.
She says ideas include creating more green spaces, redesigning the parking system, and a marketing campaign to stimulate economic growth.
The master plan for rebuilding Sydenham will be submitted to the council for approval in October.
