Christchurch MP Lianne Dalziel says an appeal system is needed to ensure people have faith in the process for removing people from earthquake damaged sections in the city.
About 100 people attended a community meeting in the badly affected suburb of Bexley on Wednesday night, where residents raised a range of concerns about the Government's plan to purchase damaged properties.
All of the suburb is included in the residential red zone to be abandoned.
Issues raised included vastly differing valuations on neighbouring properties, and people who paid far more for their homes than they will be paid out under the Government offer.
Ms Dalziel, the Labour MP for Christchurch East, says it is clear not everyone will get back the equity in their property and a disputes system would at least reassure people that the Government offer is as fair as possible.
