The Aranui Community Trust says many people in the suburb are at breaking point following Monday's earthquakes.
Trust chair Rachel Fonotia says staff will be checking on residents on Tuesday.
She told Nine to Noon they expect to be busy, dealing with people affected by the aftershocks.
Ms Fonotia said some Aranui people would have experienced freezing cold conditions on Monday night, yet the two hardest months of winter are still to come.
