Christchurch City Council has reduced the amount of rates which need to be paid on properties severely damaged in the 22 February earthquake.
The council introduced a rates relief package following the earthquakes in September and December last year and that policy has today been extended to include the February quake.
It provides rates remission of 40% for residential properties that cannot be occupied as a result of that quake.
Business properties which have been demolished, are significantly damaged, or cannot re-open because of damage to neighbouring buildings are eligible for a 30% rate reduction.
Businesses within the red zone after 28 April are also eligible.
