Daily supply runs from Rangiora

A group of Rangiora residents wants to assist any people in earthquake-hit Christchurch in desperate need of water and other essential supplies.

A spokesperson, Brendan Malone, says the plan is to make daily deliveries into the suburbs.

The Rangiora Earthquake Express team wants people in Rangiora to sanitise suitable containers, fill them with tap water and delivery them to a collection point at the Chevier Centre in the town.

Mr Malone says trailers will deliver water to residents in suburbs where water is most deperately needed. The team will also deliver items such as bread, canned food and cooked meals.

The team plans to take barbecues and sausages into the suburbs on Thursday afternoon.
