Financial grants are being offered to building developers who design energy efficient buildings for Christchurch.
The Christchurch Agency for Energy is launching the Energyfirst programme on Wednesday evening.
Building concept plans will be reviewed by an energy efficiency design expert.
The agency's acting chief executive, Merv Altments, says developers need to demonstrate energy efficiency features in a design.
He says the grants will ensure there are no hold ups or delays in getting the Christchurch rebuild moving.
A subsidy up to a maximum of $5,000 plus GST per building is available.
