Royal concern over future of cathedral

The Queen has expressed concern for the future of the Anglican cathedral in Christchurch during a meeting with Prime Minister John Key.

Mr Key used the meeting to thank the Queen for her 60 years of service to New Zealand and for the 10 visits to the country during her reign.

He says the Queen has had a lot of correspondence from people in Christchurch, concerned about the cathedral being demolished.

Mr Key says the Queen was very appreciative of the scale of the issue and wanted him to send her best wishes to those living in Christchurch.
