Canterbury Chamber of Commerce wants Christchurch City Council to be brave in its future decision making, as it considers options for rebuilding the city.

In submissions on Tuesday, chief executive Peter Townsend said the the chamber would prefer to see asset and share sales, instead of rates increases, to finance the rebuild.

Mr Townsend told the council any perception that the new Christchurch would be managed under its old pre-earthquake structures was wrong.
