Christchurch employers say overseas workers will be needed to meet growing demand in the trades sector, as the earthquake rebuild gets underway.
New figures from TradeMe's job section show that the number of job advertisements in Canterbury have increased by 81% compared to this time last year, with the biggest increases in trades and construction.
FBG Developments managing director Fletcher Glass says that since November last year, he has advertised locally and nationally for painters, but still has more work than workers.
