Export NZ not worried about MFAT cuts in Europe

Export New Zealand says it is not concerned about MFAT's plan to reduce staff in Europe, as exporters are now focused on Asia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Thursday announced a plan to cut 305 jobs and close the Warsaw and Stockholm embassies.

Export New Zealand executive director Catherine Beard supports a move to reduce New Zealand's presence in Europe.

She says it would be a sensible move for that reduction to translate into a greater representation across Asia.
