The NZX50 index rose 7 points, or 0.2%, to close at 3308 on turnover of $78 million on Thursday.
Fletcher Building was up 4 cents to $7.73, Telecom down 0.5 cents to $2.485, and Contact Energy up 3 cents to $5.40.
Sky City Entertainment was unchanged at $3.49 as was Sky Network Television at $5.50, while Auckland International Airport was up 2.5 cents to $2.295,
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 1 cent to $2.14, The Warehouse was unchanged at $3.41, Kathmandu was up 6 cents to $2.06 and Hallenstein Glasson down 4 cents to $3.31.
Vector was down 8 cents to $2.45, Ebos Group down 11 cents to $6.64, Cavalier Carpets down 5 cents to $3.20 and NZX down 2 cents to $2.30.
OceanaGold was up 14 cents to $3.04 after being included in the benchmark NZX50 index, Xero was up 12 cents to $2.77, Diligent Board Member Services was up 9 cents to $1.11 and Scott Technology up 6 cents to $1.37.
Port of Tauranga was down 11 cents to $9.65, while Port of Lyttelton was unchanged at $2.00 after saying most cruise ships won't call into the earthquake-damaged port during the 2011/2012 cruise season. In most cases, vessels will instead divert to Akaroa.
New Zealand Wine Company was unchanged at $1.10 after it lost $3.2 million in the year to June, an increase of 68% compared with the previous year.
In currency markets at the market's close, the NZ dollar was at 82.32 US, 78.66 Australian, 52.23 pence, 64.44 yen and 0.5922 euro. The TWI stood at 72.00.
