NZ and Australian markets end week lower

The New Zealand and Australian stock markets were down on Friday.

The benchmark NZX50 index fell 6 points to 3296 on turnover of $91 million.

The Australian sharemarket was down 12.8 points, or 0.30%, at 4200, while the broader All Ordinaries index was 9.5 points, or 0.22%, lower at 4271.

At close of business on Friday, the NZ dollar is at 83.1 US, 79.3 Australian, 50.97 pence, 64.28 yen, point-5768 euro and the Trade Weighted Index stands at 71.39.

Fletcher Building dropped 13 cents to $7.72, Telecom was up 2c at $2.74, and Contact Energy was down 10c at $5.21.

Sky City Entertainment fell 5c to $3.43, Sky Network television was up 10c to $5.85, Auckland International Airport was down 1c at $2.26, while Air New Zealand remains unchanged at $1.09.

Fisher and Paykel Healthcare was down 7c to $2.21, The Warehouse was down 2c at $3.40, NZ Oil and Gas fell 1c to 66c, and Vector was up 5c to $2.45.

Nuplex was unchanged at $2.64, and Guinness Peat Group closed up 3c to 66c.
