New car registrations have risen nearly a fifth.
The Transport Agency says registrations totaled 5365 in June, an increase of 18% on the previous month.
But the number is still down 7% compared with the same period a year ago.
Used car registrations, which are usually imported, totalled 6,570 last month, down 6% on May and 11% below a year ago.
Hyundai topped new car registrations, followed by Toyota and then Holden.
