The number of people staying in the country's hotels, motels, backpakers and holiday parks increased by 7% in June, Statistics New Zealand figures show.
This reverses two months of declines, including a 6% dip in May.
The rise in June was largely due to a 9% increase in overnight stays in hotels, which accounted for about half the increase in total guest nights.
Domestic visitor guest nights were up by 9% on the month and 6% for the year.
International guest night rose 4% in the month, but were still down 4% for the year.
