TrustPower windfarm not going ahead

10:07 pm on 10 September 2009

TrustPower is not going to proceed with a 48-megawatt windfarm at Myponga, near Adelaide.

The South Australian Government earlier confirmed it won't support variations to the initial planning approval that was granted in 2003.

TrustPower says it was hopeful the variation, altering height, turbine type and layout, would be approved, as it did not believe the changes were materially different to the existing approval.

It believed the project would have been particularly suited to helping achieve new renewable energy targets.

The company says the it will continue to focus on developing other windfarm opportunities in Australia.
