Chief executive Greg Foran says it will take the airline two years to get back to 70 percent of its former size and that means fewer senior managers.

Those leaving over the next two months are the operations manager, John Whittaker; the strategy and alliances officer, Nick Judd; and the chief marketing officer, Mike Tod.

All up, the three have served 68 years with Air New Zealand.

Earlier this week the airline started the process of making up to 1300 cabin crew and other support staff redundant.
