The Survey of working life conducted by Stats NZ asked people in paid employment about their work arrangements, employment conditions, and how satisfied they are with job and work-life balance.

The balance refers to effectively managing professional and personal activities, paid work and the other activities people find important outside of work.

There's very little difference between various groups with more women than men satisfied with their work-life balance.

Half of the employees surveyed say they have flexible start and finish times.

NZ-first autonomous shuttle at Christchurch airport

Christchurch Airport is trailing New Zealand's first self-driving Smart Shuttle with the public.

The Kiwi Smart Shuttle, which can carry up to 15 adults, will carry members of the public on private roads, within the airport's campus.

The vehicle is autonomous, electric and its parts have been 3D printed.

King Salmon forecasts flat profit growth for next year

The Marlborough-based fish farmer says next year's profit will be much the same, as high mortality rates have reduced the volume of product for sale.

The company said its underlying full year profit will be about the same as the year just ending - with a guidance range of between $25 million and $28.5m.

Chief executive Grant Rosewarne said warmer ocean temperatures, as well as challenges with biosecurity have restricted volume growth.

He said he isn't concerned that its larger rival, Sanford, is expanding its King Salmon fish farming operations.
