Inflation benign outside of construction

2:42 pm on 11 April 2017

Inflation pressures appear to be relatively weak outside of the strong housing and construction sectors.

ANZ bank's monthly inflation gauge rose 0.2 percent in March, when compared with the month before.

Housing and construction sectors are the main drivers of growth - with rents rising by 0.5 percent.

There were also rises in air travel, health insurance and medical services.

But falls were recorded in the accommodation and vehicle insurance sectors.
