The maker of components for navigation systems, Rakon, says it expects its earnings to rise slightly this year, as the weakening New Zealand dollar offsets slowing sales.
The company says while its annual operating earnings will increase, compared with the previous year's earnings of $24.5 million.
Rakon says its half-year earnings have been hit by the global economic downturn and will drop by up to 10% compared with the previous year.
Chief executive Brent Robinson says demand for its products from smaller customers has flattened off, which the company is looking to offset.
Mr Robinson says Rakon is also looking at growth markets for its specialised products, including supplying products for navigation systems in mobile phones. The company is also looking at how its products could be used in the digital camera market, for geo-tagging pictures.
