Regulation move by Govt on mobile phone roaming

12:46 pm on 8 September 2008

Mobile phone roaming is the term used when phone companies use each other's networks.

Communications Minister David Cunliffe previously accepted the Commission's view that the national roaming service should not be subject to price setting.

Mr Cunliffe says he now has new material evidence that needs to be tested.

He's asking the Commission to consider whether there are grounds to hold a fresh investigation into whether price regulation is warranted.
