Exxon Mobil has broken its own record for the highest quarterly profit made by a United States company.
Exxon Mobil reported on Thursday that it made $US11.68 billion in profits in the second quarter - up 14%. The company earned over $US128 million a day.
Politicians in the United States have criticised the company because of the high prices that drivers are currently paying for fuel at the pumps.
Royal Dutch Shell has reported a 33% rise in profit to $US11.6 billion in the June quarter.
