Ebook company eyeing China

Auckland technology company Booktrack is looking to expand into China after establishing a foothold in the US.

Booktrack develops technology that allows people to listen to soundtracks that match the ebook they're reading.

The companys says its user numbers doubled last quarter, reaching 1.4 million as of last week.

Investors in the company include Weta Digital, Sir Stephen Tindall and US entrepreneur Peter Thiel.

Chief executive and co-founder Paul Cameron said Booktrack was just waiting for the right opportunity to move into the world's largest market of internet users.

Aside from its headquarters in Auckland, the company has a sales and marketing team in San Francisco and an office in Hong Kong.
