Peak Primary purchase comes with costs

Green Cross Health says it will take a while before Peak Primary's 11 medical centres begin contributing to the company's bottom line.

The primary health care provider has bought Peak Primary, bringing to 49 the number of medical centres Green Cross either owns, has an equity stake in, or provides services to.

In addition to The Doctors brand of medical centres, the company also represents 300 pharmacies throughout New Zealand, under the brands of Unichem and Life Pharmacy.

It also offers community health services under the Total Care Health Services brand.

Chairman Peter Merton said Peak Primary fits in with the company's plans to expand its primary healthcare business, but the purchase comes with some costs and it will take some time before the new centres make a positive financial contribution.
