Record profit for courier company

Courier company Freightways has reported another record profit, rising 3 percent in the year ended June.

Managing director Dean Bracewell said the company's second half was even better than its first half, driving up profit to $41.7 million for the year.

The company expects to pay a final dividend of 11.25 cents per share, up 15 percent on the previous year and taking the full-year payout to 21.25 cents. Revenue rose 6 percent to $432.27.

Mr Bracewell said the company's performance was strong across all its business units and geographical regions in New Zealand and Australia.

The company is optimistic that the momentum will continue into the current financial year.
