Sales at the fast-food operator Restaurant Brands have increased more than 6% in the three months to June, boosted by turnover at its latest chain.

Sales at Carl's Jr burger outlets rose $2 million to $4.3 million in the quarter, compared with the March quarter, while sales at KFC are up 2.4%, compared with the same period a year ago.

Pizza Hutt and Starbucks Coffee have continued to weigh on the company, with sales dropping slightly. Both chains have fewer stores than a year ago.
