Manufacturing sales have risen, bolstered by a rise in metal products, petroleum and coal product manufacturing.
Statistics New Zealand figures show the volume of total manufacturing increased a seasonally adjusted 1.5% in the three months to December, compared with the previous quarter.
While sales values were flat, up $1 million to a seasonally adjusted $22.8 billion, led by a 4.4% fall in meat and dairy product manufacturing.
Meanwhile, the latest New Zealand Manufacturers & Exporters Association's survey of business conditions shows confidence rose in January, compared with the previous month, but is still in negative territory.
