Secret trade negotiations wrap up in Auckland on Wednesday amid fears the Goverment is ready to undermine New Zealand's access to cheap pharmaceuticals in return for tariffs on dairy exports being dumped.
Five hundred negotiators from the TransPacific Partnership countries began talks behind closed doors at Sky City on 3 December.
Sources have told Radio New Zealand little progress has been made towards the deadline, set down by leaders of the 11 countries involved, for a final deal by October next year.
Auckland University academic Jane Kelsey says political pressure is mounting on negotiators to get close to a deal in 10 months.
She says that could lead to New Zealand making concessions over how drug-buying agency Pharmac operates in return for improved access for dairy exports.
