Further probe into SKY contracts with ISPs

The Commerce Commission says it will conduct further investigations into Sky Network Television's contracts with internet service providers.

The commission has been looking at the deals to see if it harms competition by denying rivals access to content.

Telecommunications Users Association chief executive Paul Brislen says more insight into this will benefit consumers.

"As we move into a digital era, we've got the Government spending $1.5 billion of public money on the ultra-fast broadband (UFB) network. You really do want to make sure we've got content available online that reflects the customer's demand and that will help drive uptake.

"Unless we get that right, I think we're in a lot of trouble when it comes to uptake of the UFB."
