The NZX50 was up 22 points, or 0.61% to close at 3631 on turnover of $93 million on Wednesday.
When the markets closed the NZ dollar was at 80.52 US, 76.87 Australian, 51.37 pence, 63.43 yen and 0.6532 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.84.
Contact Energy was up 2 cents to $4.90.
Infratil was up 1 cent at $2.10 and Vector was down 1 cent at $2.76.
Freightways was unchanged at $3.97.
Goodman Fielder was up 8 cents at 73 cents.
Fletcher Building was unchanged at $6.53, Mainfreight was down 6 cents at $9.44 and Fisher & Paykel was down 2 cents at $1.90.
Telecom was up 9 cents at $2.835, Chorus was down 1 cent at $3.08 and TradeMe was up 1 cent at $3.87.
The Warehouse was up 2 cents at $2.70, Sky City was unchanged at $3.58 and Sky TV was up 4 cents at $5.24.
