A clean-up crew and investigators have been back at a Paeroa stream today dealing with a mysterious pink contaminant.
The contaminant is believed to have killed dozens of eels and fish.
Waikato Regional Council said a formal investigation was underway after local residents raised the alarm yesterday.
Investigators believe they have identified the source of the pollutant, but were waiting for samples to be analysed.
