Two police officers have been left with minor injuries after a man bit them during his arrest in Lower Hutt.
Another was nearly hit by a vehicle, when the man tried to avoid a checkpoint on Gracefield Street at about 11.20am on Friday.
Inspector Wade Jennings said police kept sight of the car, and attempted to speak to the driver when he stopped on Randwick Road.
The man was tasered during his arrest, and taken into custody.
He and the two officers are being medically assessed.
Charges against the man are being considered, Jennings said.
