A crash has closed the Desert Road (SH1) in the central North Island.
The highway was initially down to one lane but was closed mid morning to allow for vehicle recovery.
NZTA said a detour was in place via on SH49, SH4, SH47, and asked motorists to allow extra time for their journey.
