An Auckland primary school was forced into lockdown on Friday after reports of a man acting suspiciously on the grounds.
Police were called to Peninsula Primary School in Te Atatū about 10am, with some suggesting the man was partially naked.
The school went into lockdown, with police onsite and parents told to stay away while police patrolled.
Peninsula Primary in Te Atatū has since said all students, staff and others on site are safe following the lockdown which was due to a "concern to student welfare".
Police say the man did not enter any buildings but walked through the grounds.
The man has been apprehended and is helping police with their enquiries.
Gates to both the school's rear entrance on Wharf Rd and the front entrance on Waipani Rd were locked, with three police vehicles on scene.
In a note on its website around 11am, the school confirmed lockdown was complete - but the school's gates would remain locked during playtime and police onsite..
"Police are still onsite and keeping us all safe. We would like to thank you for your support."
