Navigation for Te Ahi Kaa

19 December 2010

"Kia hora te marino, Kia whakapapa pounamu te moana, kia tere te Kārohirohi i mua i tōu huarahi."
"May be the calm be widespread May the ocean glisten as greenstone May the shimmer of light ever dance across your pathway."

Earlier this week, Maraea Rakuraku was lucky enough to spend some quality time with members of the 28th Māori Battalion. As well as asking Matt Love and Henry Norton about their respective enlisting stories, they talk about Christmas's spent in Egypt and Italy during the Second World War.

When Katchafire debuted their sound back in 1997 their catchy tune 'Giddy Up' quickly caught on and rated high on music playlists in Iwi radio. Based in Hamilton, Katchafire have launched their 6th Album On the Road Again. Justine Murray and Maraea Rakuraku catch up withmembers Jamey Fergusson nō Ngati Kahungunu, Leon Davey nō Ngati Kahungunu and Logan Bell nō Tainui, during some downtime between gigs.

At this year's Kai in the Bay Wild food festival in Napier, Justine Murray has a chat with Chefs Anne Thorp and Rex Morgan about the type of kai making it to their Hākari table come Christmas morning.
