The Mayor of Thorndon Campaign which ran annually from the 1940s to the 1960s has been nominated as a piece of New Zealand's history that should be remembered. Graham McCready explains how his father with a group of drinking buddies from Thordon started the bogus mayoral campaign as a way to raise money for blind children in Wellington.
