Volunteers - Reham Habid and Red Cross

From Summer Times, 9:37 am on 31 December 2018

Having seen Red Cross volunteers tending to war-torn families living in Palestine's Gaza Strip when she was growing up there, 19-year-old Reham Abu Habid is determined to go back one day representing the humanitarian organisation. Right now she's part of New Plymouth's Red Cross Community Relief Team, trained and ready to help out should the need arise.

Reham's family migrated to New Zealand in the 1980s but wanted to return to Palestine to stay connected with their culture, and so her father could worked with Red Cross as a neurosurgeon. While New Plymouth is home, Reham is very aware of the dangers still faced by families living on the Gaza Strip.
