Meri Kirihimete! In this week’s Standing Room Only Naughty and Nice 2019 special, stand-in host Mark Amery is joined by artists and commentators for a look at the highs and lows of the year in visual arts, performing arts and literature. Plus our guest for the Laugh Track - coming from an undisclosed location somewhere in the world - is Santa Claus.

In the visual arts panel, Warren Feeney, Francis McWhannell and Matariki Williams discuss themes and stand-out moments from the year, including a top pick for all: Māori Moving Image: An Open Archive.

The year in books is brought to you by author Pip Adam and literary festival directors Claire Mabey (Verb) and Rachael King (Word Christchurch), who have all of your summer reading needs covered as well as fresh takes on that article about the apparent dismantling of NZ book culture.

New Zealand Herald critic Dione Joseph, dance critic Lyne Pringle and Tairawhiti Festival director Tama Waipara examine a year in performing arts.

And Tayi Tibble, Sam Brooks and Carla Van Zon cover off any remaining burning arts issues from the year.
