The lovers' trystInside the tryst

'COOO-EEEEE!'

That would be how you would let Annie know you were coming. That's Annie Fox and her lover Henry Chaffey, the recluses of Asbestos Cottage (so called for the asbestos mining in the area). They lived in the 26 metre square cottage in what is now Kahurangi National Park for 39 years after Annie fled her abusive husband, leaving her two teenage boys behind. The cottage is still there and Amelia Nurse joins bush guides Maryann Ewers and Bill Rooke on a tramp in to the cottage to see what it's like now and find out what became of these extraordinary lovers.
