Auckland Mayor Phil Goff relieved

Auckland's mayor is relieved the severity of his city's lockdown has not been ramped up, or extended for too long.

Phil Goff, told Kim Hill the extension of the wage subsidy beyond the end of this month will provide a vital lifeline for Auckland businesses and others affected by its slow down.

He says going hard and going early remains the right approach.

Goff says the city's economy is still set to benefit from a $2.5 billion infrastructure spend from the council.
