8:15 Daryl Copeland: guerilla diplomacy

Daryl Copeland is an analyst, writer and educator on international policy, global issues, diplomacy and public management. He is research fellow at the University of Southern California's Center on Public Diplomacy and senior fellow at the University of Toronto's Munk Centre for International Studies. He served as a Canadian diplomat from 1981-2009, with postings in Thailand, Ethiopia, New Zealand, and Malaysia. He is visiting New Zealand as a guest of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs to give a series of talks about his book, Guerrilla Diplomacy: Rethinking International Relations (Lynne Rienner Publishers, ISBN: 978-1-58826-655-2).

8:35 Peter Sutton

Australian social anthropologist and linguist Dr Peter Sutton is Senior Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide and the South Australian Museum. He has worked on many Aboriginal land claims and is critical of the last 30 years of government policy towards indigenous Australians. He is visiting The University of Auckland as a guest of the School of Critical Studies in Education and the Department of Anthropology, and gives a symposium at the university on 19 March from 4:00pm, based on his book, The Politics of Suffering: Indigenous Australia and the End of the Liberal Consensus (Melbourne University Press, ISBN: 978-0-52285-636-1).

9:05 Chris Chitty

Chris Chitty is Technician and Senior Tutor at the School of Engineering & Advanced Technology, Massey University (Albany). He won a Best Visual Effects Oscar for the "robo-sheep" in the 1995 film Babe, developed by his design and technology company, Robotechnology, and can currently be seen onscreen as the "mad scientist" Dr Robotech in the TVNZ children's show Let's Get Inventing.

Sardinian-born choreographer Bobo Pani studied classical, contemporary, African and jazz dance as well as Argentinian tango before working in Italy and Canada. He has worked in France for Compagnie Montalvo-Hervieu since 1992, and is Artistic Assistant for their touring production of Good Morning Mr Gershwin, currently playing at the 2010 NZ International Arts Festival.

10:05 Playing Favourites with Chris Parry

Chris Parry was the drummer for pioneering 1960s New Zealand pop group The Fourmyula. After leaving the band in London, he took an A&R job at Polydor Records before leaving to sign The Cure to his own label, Fiction Records. The Fourmyula have reunited for two shows (Monte Cristo Room, Auckland, 18 March, and Expressions Arts Centre, Upper Hutt, 20 March) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their hit song Nature, the release of definitive four-CD set The Complete Fourmyula (EMI), and the vinyl release of their "lost" 1970 album, Turn Your Back on the Wind.

Texan singer-songwriter and actor Lyle Lovett has recorded 14 albums, most recently Natural Forces (Lost Highway Records). He visits Auckland with his Acoustic Group for one NZ concert (The Civic, 20 March); the start of his first-ever Australasian tour.

11:30 Frisky and Mannish

Felicity Fitz-Frisky (Laura Corcoran) and Hansel Amadeus Mannish (Matthew Jones) first performed together at a one-off charity appearance on Battersea Barge in the UK. Since then their subversive "school of pop" cabaret show has travelled to venues in New York, Berlin, and a sold-out season at Leicester Square Theatre, and wowed audiences at the Edinburgh Festival. Frisky and Mannish are currently playing at the 2010 NZ International Arts Festival.
