King’s Birthday Monday with Anna Thomas for Monday 1 June 2009

Chris Whitta

Join Chris Whitta for a morning of music and relaxed chat.

British novelist and writer of tv spy drama SpooksNeil Cross joins us in the studio to talk espionage and the life of the writer.

83-year-old Brendon Grimshaw is the subject of documentary A Grain of Sand. He tells us about life on Moyenne Island, a small island off the east coast of Africa which he bought in the 1960s. He lives there by himself with only trees and giant tortoises for company and is passionate about the conservation of the island. The documentary will be touring New Zealand in the coming months as part of the Reel Earth Environmental Film Festival.

Wilco have been described as the greatest live band on the planet. Brendan Canty is the director of a new documentary Ashes of American Flags which charts life on the road in a fading America.

We also ask the question "What music would the Queen have on her iPod?" (now that she has one!) plus British comedy, the Beatles visit to New Zealand and special guests.
